Howdy!
We're the VSB. We've been described in an awful lot of ways: Okie-jazz-grass, blasphemous Americana, and even space-folk. To be honest, we’re not exactly sure what we are. Anyway, if you need anything, shoot us an e-mail at vsb@voluntarystringband.com and we’ll try to help out.
Thanks for stopping by!

VSB and Diamond Down at Flag Brew Feb. 8

Happy winter to you all! Snow has thankfully returned to the mountains in Flag after a painfully long dry spell. We feel good, like real winter is here again. In VSB land, we've been holed up working on some new tunes and putting the finishing touches on a fresh album of 10 originals that we'll hopefully get out there before too long. More info about that will come soon, we promise.
We're extremely excited to be playing with our local buddies Diamond Down String Band at Flagstaff Brewing Co. on Saturday, Feb. 8. It'll be a fun night of weird local roots-Americana. Check them out at www.diamonddownstringband.com and take a gander at the great show poster above by our very own Thom Lord.
Also, the night before, on Friday, Feb. 7, we'll be playing unplugged at the Pike Gallery in Flagstaff during a cool live-painting event. It gets rolling around 6 or so and we'll be doing a couple stripped-down sets (well, not literally – we'll make every attempt to keep Andrew fully clothed). 100 S. Mikes Pike.
Thanks and we hope to see you out!

VSB live benefitting the AZ Trail Oct. 4!

Update: Thanks so much to everyone who came out to the Oct. 4 show! We had a blast and the whole deal was a huge success. We appreciate everyone's support of local music, art, beer and trails! Cheers!

This Friday, Oct. 4 the VSB will be playing a couple sets down at the Wanderlust Brewing Co. in Flagstaff. The First Friday Art Walk event will feature several new paintings by Flagstaff artist Cole Habay along with a bunch of prints. It's all benefiting the Arizona Trail Association, which looks after one of the greatest scenic trails in the world and one that snakes right through Flag.
The event and VSB will get going around 6:30 p.m. and there will be a silent auction with tons of awesome outdoor gear donated by Cosmic Cycles, Babbitt's Backcountry Outfitters, Colorado River Discovery, Mile Wide Sports, Summit Hut, Mountain Sports, Macy's European Coffee House, Garmin, and the Arizona Trail Association, along with prints and jewelry by the artist.
Also, Cole will be raffling off one of her beautilful original paintings at 8:30 p.m.
We'd love to see you out throwing some weight behind a great cause, supporting a fantastic local artist, and guzzling some tasty brew!

VSB Live at Flag Brew 9/14/13!

Be sure to mark your calendars for Saturday, September 14. The VSB will be playing what'll inevitably be one of the very last patio evenings of the year at the good old Flag Brew.
We're also really excited to announce that bassist Thom Lord will be playing a whole set with us made up mostly of original and new tunes. Thom is an old friend and a hell of a player and we couldn't be more excited to have him on stage with us Saturday.
Come on out to say adios to summer with us!
